divetour2
DIVETOUR2 contributes to a paradigm shift in the tourism industry, championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for all. The business case for DEI in tourism is solid: the sector needs a skilled workforce able to meet the diverse needs and expectations of its customers, and to work well in teams that are themselves increasingly diverse. At the same time, the rapid rise of Generative AI is reshaping how people work and learn. GenAI tools are powerful, but they can also carry risks, above all stereotyping and bias in how diversity is represented. Both challenges call for new competences and, first and foremost, critical thinking. DIVETOUR2 responds to this scenario by enriching the curricula of tourism VET learners with training tools that combine ethical values with business and technological innovation.
Objectives
Building on these challenges, our primary goal is to put innovative training and resources in the hands of VET professionals and learners, so that DEI principles and GenAI tools become part of their everyday tourism practice.
- We explore and demonstrate the ethical and practical applications of GenAI in creating accessible and inclusive tourism experiences, fostering the critical thinking and self-awareness that future professionals need to navigate the complexities of diversity and inclusion in a rapidly evolving industry. Special attention goes to strengthening the self-confidence of learners, particularly those at risk of discrimination.
- We seek to create a collaborative environment where educators, learners and industry professionals share best practices and develop new approaches to DEI in tourism.
- Learning achievements are recognised through Open Badges, and VET organisations are supported in adopting this approach within their own educational plans so that the journey continues beyond the project itself.
Methodology
DIVETOUR2 develops a flexible, learner-centred programme based on edutainment, combining education and entertainment. Learners explore DEI and digital innovation topics by playing, experimenting and reflecting, with their teachers, trainers and tutors involved as ‘peer travellers’ on the same learning journey.
For teachers, trainers, and tutors
If you teach tourism-related subjects in VET, DIVETOUR2 offers ready-to-use tools to enrich your curriculum. The project covers sector-specific areas such as accommodation, travel booking, transportation, entertainment, marketing and event planning, and provides a dedicated training kit to support you in applying the methodology in your classroom.
For Learners
If you are a VET student preparing for a career in tourism, DIVETOUR2 offers you a different way to learn: games, real-world scenarios and AI-based challenges that build both professional and transversal skills: the competences employers in the tourism sector increasingly expect.
